Don Pedro Camping Trip '07

Hey everyone, time to have some fun in the sun at Lake Don Pedro.  Looks like temperatures should be perfect – 95 to 100 degrees (lows of 64).  So far we have 2 nice boats lined up so there will be plenty of wakeboarding, tubing, etc.  We may have up to 4 jet skis as well.

Some basic information:

Dates - Thursday the 12th, Friday the 13th, and Saturday the 14th. We're supposed to be out by 2pm on Sunday.

Campground – we are in BLUE OAKS campground, not Fleming Meadows or Moccasin Point.  Fleming Meadows is the most popular because it has all the amenities (marina, store, swimming lagoon, etc) but we booked too late to get into that one.  However, we can use the facilities but we’ll have to drive there.

Camp Sites – we have three reserved: C-32, C-34, and C-35 (click on the number to see the site). C-35 will probably be used for Brady's family, C-32 for the Water City gang, and C-34 for cross-over. At this time there are other open sites nearby but they are now first-come, first serve. Showers are a short walk away. The lake is a little low so it is also a little ways away.

Campground rules – We are allowed 8 people per site, 3 tents, and 2 vehicles.  Since we have boats and jet skis they will probably consume most of the parking so be prepared to drop your stuff off, then park in the parking lot (it’s NOT within walking distance).  Alcohol is allowed, even at the swimming lagoon, but bring cans, not bottles for the beer.  NO PETS ALLOWED, sorry.

Payment – The campsites are paid for, see Brady to pay your share.  However, you will need to pay for your car ($6 a day).

Directions - This is the Google link, the camground entrance is a short way down Bonds Flat rd (if you go past the dam, you've missed it).

Cell Phones - I was told that there is reception at the lake but the advice given to me was "if you get a signal, don't move".

What to Bring - No need to over due it, there should be plantly of camp stoves (especially those of you just spending one night) for cooking. Remember, we're supposed to only have 3 tents per site with a low of 65 and a high of 100 you may not even need a tent. Otherwise, just the basics: sunscreen, repellent, towels, float stuff, beer, etc.
